Walking for strong bones

Updated: Mar 18, 2019

Walking is a weight-bearing exercise and therefor good for bone building, but it mustn't be your only form of exercises as it does little to build bone strength in your upper body and arms.

Nordic walking is a form of fitness walking that uses special Nordic poles and it was originally summer training for Nordic skiers in Scandinavia.

I have been Nordic Walking as a part of my fitness regime, for many years, and I love the rhythm of it; the long strides and the swinging of the poles, and that you're using your whole body in a way you don't with walking alone.

Nordic walking uses more muscle groups than normal walking and therefor burns more calories, something many people appreciate.

Please visit Nordic Walking UK for information on groups and trainers in your area, or take a look on youtube to see how it's done.
